Sydney, Sydney quite contrary
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells
And cockle shells,
And pretty maids all in a row.

If you asked Sydney what he did this summer and he replied, “Gardening,” these pictures may help you see why that was the only thing he mentioned. By the way, these were not the culmination of the pepper and tomato harvests, but rather simply the only ones I caught on film. Sydney, next time it might be more accurate to say, “Farming.”

Good heavens, that’s a lot of tomatoes! Does he can salsa and spaghetti sauce too?
Thanks for the pictures!
Wow! He really did work in the kitchen most of the summer. I really wish I could have some of those beautiful peppers right now.
Last summer I had to be in a classroom, learning to teach literature five days a week, so I forewarned him that I would not be canning anything – getting the hang of being a farm wife would have to wait until a freer summer. I still have a lot to learn about pulling weeds! He did not make sauces or salsas, but he did can jar after jar of tomato juice, which we use for soups, risotto, etc.
I love how you can make a pile of peppers, and suddenly – it’s art! 🙂
