principled voting

So I see that white voters are consistently voting for anybody but Obama (with the exception of whites in Iowa), black voters are consistently voting for Obama, old people are consistently voting for McCain, young people are consistently voting for Obama, women are consistently voting for Clinton, men are consistently voting for anybody but Clinton. I’m not sure how somebody who is, say, old, black, and female can make up her mind. Or somebody who is young and white.

I’m curious about what will happen to the white male vote in states where Edwards was polling well, now that he’s dropped out of the race. Obviously there is a flaw with examining this only on the basis of gender/race/age rather than on the issues (though Obama and Clinton are so similar, the issues almost seem to function as a control agent now that Edwards has dropped out)…

I think it will be interesting to see what white men do, whether they will flock in one direction “toward man” or “toward white” or whether they will disperse, if you will.

Anyway, just something I’ve been thinking about.

Yes, it will be interesting to watch what happens. Though I do find it depressing that so many people are clearly being swayed by politically irrelevant factors. Makes me think again that politicians running for office should not be allowed to appear in public, but should be isolated somewhere and allowed to write pamphlets or something …
