“A planned life is not worth living; a made bed is not worth having.”
The former is loosely attributed to Plato; the latter is Sydney’s contribution.
With sentiments like that, it’s a wonder Sydney and I share the same planet, much less the same house!

Sydney
Sydney, do you prefer chaos or simply are not bothered by disorder? Or, where does untidy and disorderly begin to border on chaos for you in that it then becomes a bother and annoyance?
Actually, I didn’t think I liked chaos (I certainly have had roommates who tolerated a great deal more messiness than I do). I just am happy with a lived-in look, rather than an utterly sterile look that houses on the market have. But I think Erin and I have different standards for what counts as chaos or disorder. As for beds, I never have thought it worth the bother making them in the morning — why not enjoy the folds of fabric? (Cf. painters’ interest in fabric folds.) Why think a perfectly flat bedspread any more appealing than a perfectly flat slab of pavement on a parking lot? I’ll take rolling meadows and forests and unmade beds any day.
