This fall I’m going to be teaching a course on non-linear narratives (stories that don’t unfold in chronological order), and, after much agonizing, I’ve finally settled on a reading list:
– Short stories by Borges
– Einstein’s Dreams, by Alan Lightman (such a fun book!)
– Pale Fire, by Vladimir Nabokov
– Jacob’s Room, by Virginia Woolf
– The Sound and the Fury, by William Faulkner
– We’ll finish up with a look at some really old non-linear stories (Arabian Nights, Tristram Shandy) and some really new ones (novels written in hypertext)
Can’t wait! Can’t wait!
