Erin!!!! Erin!!! Hi! It’s Jenny and Jess (Lauren Simpson’s little sister) My mom forwarded one the updates and I cannot believe 1) how long it’s been since we visited you all in your little spot in Oxford and 2) HOW BIG EVERYONE IS. We are hunkered down at our little house in upstate New York and got a little veg patch going, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t jealous of how well your spinach was doing lol. I am so incredibly elated to see you all doing well and hopefully we will cross paths again. Much love to all the Penners!

Jenny!!!! Hi, Jess! (Fewer exclamation marks for Jess only so I don’t scare her off). So great to hear from you. I am having sharp memories of Jen reading to Katherine in our dark little Oxford living room. Katherine will now happily read to you, Jen, in her best teacher-inflected voice. And yeah, Katherine hugged Sydney today and didn’t even seem dwarfed by HIM. We’re raising giants in these parts.

We’re big fans of upstate NY (Ithaca was our first home, and our favorite), and Sydney wishes for that farming: he says we can get things to grow easily enough here, but the problem then is keeping it alive despite disease, pests, and unrelenting heat. So our spinach is now protesting the heat and threatening to bolt. But I’m guessing yours is flourishing! Glad that you two are hunkering down in such a lovely part of the country.
